Thanksgiving at the Bray household wouldn’t be complete without the magic touch of my mom’s fail-proof, minimal-ingredient apple pie. Now, you’ve got to understand, we are a bunch with hearts as big as our laughter, and trust me, nothing gets by us!
| In our family, thick skin and a knack for a good laugh at ourselves are must-haves. My mom has been whipping up this pie for ages (just check out the recipe card itself!). A few years ago, in my culinary school-trained wisdom (yes, I graduated from culinary school in Paris—cue the subtle brag), I took one look at the recipe card and teased my mom relentlessly. There was just no way this simple concoction could rival my sophisticated palate, right? Well, as usual Peg rolls her eyes and says something for sure smart back and schools me. However, truth be told, it’s one of the best I’ve ever tasted! Plus, it’s budget-friendly, minus the kitchen drama and wallet-draining ingredient lists. So, here’s to you, Peg, for always knowing best! Humble pie here I come! 🥧 |
